Asian Trade and Investment Integration and Implications for Thailand

Dr. Jingjai Hanchanlash, Executive member Board of Director GMS-BF has acted as the speaker on “Experiences and way forward to Strengthen Regional Integration” at ADB-ITD Seminar on Asian Trade and Investment Integration and Implications for Thailand on 9 June 2008, Bangkok, Thailand.
The seminar aimed to take a look at Asian trade and investment integration and understand its impact on Thailand. The seminar addressed three inter-related strategic issues and will draw on recent studies spearheaded by ADB including the Emerging Asian Regionalism; Impact of FTAs on Business Activity in Thailand; and the Thailand Country Paper in the Study on East Asia-South Asia Economic Relations. The seminar format included a mix of position papers, panel discussion, and question and answer sessions.
The seminar was of interest to all concerned with Thailand and the region’s economic prosperity through regional integration. Around 40 participants from Thailand (Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Commerce, Finance, Central Bank, think tanks, academics, business and private sector associations) participated in the event.
