GMS-BF and Mekong Institute Collaboration to boost trade and investment in GMS
GMS-BF and the Thailand-based Mekong Institute (MI) have agreed to join efforts to boost trade and investment in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). The two organizations will cooperate in conducting research about challenges to regional trade as well as train government officials of GMS members countries, especially those in areas situated along the GMS East West Economic Corridor.
Mr. Oudet Souvannavong, Secretary General of GMS-BF and Dr. Suchat Katima, Director of Mekong Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friday, 08 August 2008 in Vientiane. Mr. Oudet said the GMS Business Forum would provide funding and information for the Mekong Institute to conduct research and the main focus of the cooperation would be on one-stop transport services, which leaders of GMS countries have agreed to implement.
